By Eddie Bowley 25th March 2002 - 4th October 2003 I’ve always adored superhero comics. Although I’ve always found it odd that whenever a character gains superpowers, they immediately become vigilantes or turn evil. I wondered what would happen, if a person gained superpowers but didn’t actually care about it. Someone who couldn’t be bothered to fight or cause crime. The laziest superhero ever. That’s where the idea behind The Slob came from. The Slob was also an opportunity to parody elements of superhero comics and (more so with the second story) sci-fi clichés. The Slob was a character who could very easily allow everything happen around him without the urge to take part. Alongside The Slob (also known as Uncle Bob), is his nephew, Alan. He’s a young comic book enthusiast who constantly tires to encourage his uncle to behave more like superheroes should despite his utter laziness. Together, they take on a collection of odd bad guys from aliens to giant robots. To explore the archives, click here. To start from the very first comic, click here. |
